About the BRLRA

Our Mission

Along with other officials of the game, it is the primary aim of our members to provide the players and spectators of the game with a safe and enjoyable environment in which to participate and watch the sport of Rugby League. As with any sport, the main interest lies with the skills of the players, but no sport can function at any level without the Referee.

Responsibilities of the Association

As a members group of the Queensland Rugby League QRL, our members officiate over a wide variety and levels of the game. We cater to Mini Mod games (Under 7 - Under 12), Junior League games (Under 13 through to Under 18), Second Division (Under 20, 22 and Open 1 through to 5), Students League, Schoolboy League, Master's and Women's League, Seniors ("A" Grade and Colts) as well as Queensland Cup matches.

Some members, both past and present, have officiated over NRL, State of Origin and International matches. The opportunity always exists for future members to gain experience to undertake these challenging matches. The Honor Roll section of this site honours these members as well as those worthy of recognition for their dedication to the Game as an official of the Association.

Player's Safety

One of the most important considerations of the game is the safety of all players, particularly during their growing years. From the Minor grades through to the Under 15's, a specialised Safeplay Code has been developed to minimise injuries. This set of rules can be accessed through the Rules pages on this site.
